Legacy
Society for endowments honors
Bishop Tharp
Bishop Tharps longstanding dream to have an endowment in every
congregation by the year 2000 was the catalyst for establishing the
Bishop Tharp Legacy Society. It is a diocesan program with a steering
committee working in partnership with the Diocese Planned Giving Resource
Team and local churches. The purpose of the Legacy Society is to support
planned giving programs in the local congregations as they seek to develop
or grow an endowment.
Founding members of the Bishop Tharp Legacy Society will be enrolled during 1999. To become a founding member, a provision must be made in your estate plan for a planned gift to a local congregation, the diocese, a recognized Episcopal institution, or to a wider Episcopal ministry such as the Presiding Bishops Fund for World Relief. Those of you who have made, or are planning to make, a provision for the church in your estate plan are requested to inform the planned giving contact person at your church, your rector, or Carolyn Dicer at Diocesan House (423-521-2900). A Bishop Tharp Legacy Society membership form will be sent immediately and you will become a founding member. Members of the Bishop Tharp Legacy Society know that they have looked beyond this life and made provision for the mission and ministry of the church. They have, Planted a tree that will bear fruit in due season. |
