| Episcopal Youth Event 1999
by Kayla McGrady and Jackie Raynolds The Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) is an event unlike any other. To attend the event is an honor and probably the chance of a lifetime. The first step of preparation by us for attending the EYE for was raising money for the enrollment fee. We decided to facilitate a car wash in Gate City, VA to raise money for the event. When we made an announcement at our parish, St. Timothys, Kingsport, concerning the car wash, we also said that we would accept donations to our EYE fund. The generosity of the church soon became apparent. Before the day of the car wash arrived, we were amazed to discover that over $200 had been donated by the parishioners of our church. The car wash, was a huge success as well. Members of our youth group as St. Timothys and other friends from the community turned out to help with our fundraising effort. The local residents supplied an abundance of vehicles for us to wash. It seemed that we cleaned every vehicle in Gate City (including the police cars) by the close of the day. Amongst the water, pizza, and laughter, $200 was raised by our sunburned group.
