Diocesan Youth Come Together for Annual Event

Hibernation may be the way some deal with the winter months, but for the youth of this diocese, it was a time to spring into action. Members of the 1997/98 Youth Action Council (YAC) planned and implemented the third annual Diocesan Youth Event (DYE) the last weekend in January. Over one hundred and fifty youth and adults, representing 15 parishes and missions in the diocese gathered at St. John’s Cathedral for a fast paced weekend of fun, learning, music, worship, food, and fellowship. ... A reflection: “Happening”

Happening, a weekend that I will never forget.This event called “Happening” took place April 16-18.My parents had signed me up for this, but at the same time I had a state choral event to go to in Nashville. I was extremely disappointed when I found out that I was going to have to skip out of my choral event to go to this church retreat. In the diocese

A writer since childhood, Mary O. Stone, a parishioner at St. Joseph the Carpenter, Sevierville, didn’t began her career in journalism until she was 65 years old. Ten years ago this May she produced the first issue of a tabloid newspaper which has a circulation of more than 13,000. Stone has been managing editor of the newspaper since the first issue. St. Andrew, Maryville, will hold an “Olde English Garden Fete” on Saturday, June 12, from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. The first Garden Fete, part of the St. Andrew’s 75th Anniversary celebrations in 1998, was so popular that it will become an annual event. [full text]
