Mission and Missions:
The Work of the Church

In his sermon to the Episcopal Church Women Spring Assembly, Bishop vonRosenberg reiterated that the mission of the Church is missions and that Episcopal Church women have historically provided a lead in this Great Commission from our Lord.

The ECW of the diocese decided to answer the call to fulfill this in a very special and “concrete” way, by “building miracles.”

This is to be accomplished thought the Food For The Poor, a program for people in the Third World.

For the very small amount of $1,500, we can provide a single home for someone. The dwelling is a one-room, 12 ft. x 12 ft. structure with a solid concrete floor and a tin roof. This provides a sturdy dwelling that does not leak. It will offer security and comfort not previously experienced by whoever receives this blessing.

What could offer more “concrete,” tangible evidence and expression of Christian love and concern for others not nearly so fortunate as ourselves?

As women, we are sensitive to the comfort that having a place to call our home provides. We urge each of our chapters to participate in this endeavor, hopefully making it a project for your entire congregation. Build a miracle; provide a home!
