Province IV Altar Guild
Association Conference Planned

The Province IV Altar Guild will celebrate the new millennium with a challenging and inspirational program during its annual conference to be held June 4-7 at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, N.C.

The conference will begin on Sunday, June 4, with an opening Eucharist led by the Conference chaplain, the Rev. Phil Byrum, Rector of St. Timothy’s in Wilson, N.C. In additon to the business meeting, Monday and Tuesday will provide participants with a range of workshops and plenty of time for relaxing and fellowship on the Rocking Chair Porch.

The schedule includes:

  • a program on interpretations of women in the Bible with a class for those who are interested in writing and performing such dramatic worship segments conducted by Dr. Mozelle Clark Sherman of Louisville, Ky.

  • a workshop on the invaluable work of wedding guilds presented by Jan Smith of Madison, Miss.

  • a new and challenging workshop on flower arrangements for the church given by veteran Kanuga presenter Rosemary Easton of Oxford, N.C.

  • a preview of the upcoming National Altar Guild Association meeting in Denver.

  • election and installation of new officers for Province IV.

The conference will close with Eucharist before breakfast on Wednesday morning to allow those with long drives to get on the road early. Optional activities include visits to the Carl Sandburg farm, the renowned Flatrock Theater or the home of Thomas Wolfe.

The conference cost is $181 per person (double occupancy) covers housing and meals and is paid directly to Kanuga. Single occupancy rate is $244. There is also a $25 per person registration fee payable to the Province IV Altar Guild to cover program expenses.
