DYE 2000
Youth Make Convention Appearance

by Pam Doty

Kingsport - The youth of the diocese of East Tennessee came to the convention Feb. 12 and 13. They came for fellowship and for worship. Upon arrival on Saturday afternoon, the approximately 150 participants in the Diocesan Youth Event (DYE) rehearsed their part in the convention business session as they renewed acquaintances and made new ones through games and projects.

During the afternoon session, the youth made themselves known to the convention. With Bishop vonRosenberg, the young people and their leaders entered the convention hall and presented a report on their work as the church in the world. Letting their light shine, they sang for the delegates and guests before departing for some fun.

As a group, they went to Rascal’s for food, movies, video games, billiards and fellowship.

That evening, the youth of the diocese spent the night on the floor and in the pews at St. Timothy’s in Kingsport.

After breakfast at the church, the young people returned to the convention site to worship with the rest of the diocese. They joined the processional, carrying banners representing each church in the diocese. Each banner displayed the logo and theme of the convention, “We are one church.”
