St. John's Cathedral to Buy ‘Diocesan House’ Bldg.

Although the decision to sell Diocesan House to St. John's Cathedral for fair market value and moving expenses was unanimous, members of the Bishiop and Council were not ready to decide where to relocate the diocesan offices. Council requested that definitive proposals be presented at the May 4 meeting when a decision will be made.

Churches Invited to ‘Invade’ New Diocesan Camp and Retreat Center

Summer camp is in the works at the Diocesan Camp and Retreat Center on Watts Bar Lake near Kingston, Tennessee. The program committee of the Board of Managers, headed by the Rev. Hugh Jones has decided to hold day camps this summer to acquaint congregations with the facilities of the Manley Property which will be the site of the Diocesan Camp and Retreat Center.

Obituary

C. Ralph Ewing, Jr.
C. Ralph Ewing Jr., 66, of Signal Mountain, died Feb. 28, 2001, in St. Barnabas Nursing Home in Chattanooga. He was a past president of ECSET and of the Episcopal Churcmen of Tennessee, served three years on the Bishop and Council and was a member of St. Timothy's Chattanooga.

At St. Timothy's he served on the vestry for nine years and as junior warden for one year and was a lay Eucharistic minister for 15 years. He was also a member of the St. Barnabas board for three years.

Mr. Ewing was retired from the Dixie Group and Ewing Textiles. He is survived by his wife Betty Mayfield Ewing, two sons, two daughters, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
