DYE theme for February is “Miracles”

February 10-11, 2001
The Diocesan Youth Event to be held during the Diocesan Convention will have “Miracles”’ as its theme. Reflecting the theme of the Convention, “We Anticipate Miracles,” the event will begin at St. John’s Cathedral, Knoxville at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10.

This is a time to get to know young people from around the Diocese of East Tennessee and to participate in the Diocesan Convention while having a great time. The young people will lead the Convention worship service on Saturday evening and will be present and participatory in the Sunday Eucharist.

Sponsored by the Youth Action Council, DYE is for young people in grades 6-12 and their adult advisors. Application forms are available from church youth leaders and priests.

For more information, contact Patricia Askew, Diocesan Youth Ministries Facilitator, patricia@etdiocese.net or by phone: 423-886-6538.

Camp Billy Johnson Seeks Staffers
Camp Billy Johnson is a summer camp where no one pays, and no one gets paid, but everyone profits.

We tend to mosquito bites and dangling shoe laces. They tend to the full-time pursuit of childhood.

We work on backstrokes, batting averages, and self-respect. They teach a course in enthusiasm.

We provide a free week at camp. They provide movement, courage, laughter, love.

Each summer since 1979, as members and advisors of the Episcopal Young Churchmen in the Diocese of East Tennessee, we have raised funds for, planned, and staffed Camp Billy Johnson. Renting the facilities of DuBose Conference Center we invite children whose parents would otherwise find it difficult to provide such an outing.
We do what we can as well as we can. Friends - individuals and organizations - provide money ($125.00 sends one child to camp for one week) or supplies (first aid kits, crafts materials), and services (driving children to camp).

All in all, we find it a profitable venture and we invite you to invest.
