Two Priests and Five Deacons Ordained

“Charles, Bishop in the Church of God, on behalf of the clergy and people of the Diocese of East Tennessee, we present to you. . .”

Representatives of the Diocese of East Tennessee presented two people to be ordained to the order of priest and five to be ordained to the order of deacon during the month of June.

Each ordinand proclaimed himself/herself called to ordained ministry and committed to that trust and responsibility.

They were then consecrated, vested and given gifts to be used in their ministries.

The ordinations were cause for celebration throughout the diocese. With the discernment process, the study and the testing completed, and with the approval of Bishop, Standing Committee, Examining Chaplains and the Commission on Ministry, these seven individuals were selected and consecrated to the work of God.

The Rev. Allan Cole was ordained to the priesthood at St. Andrew’s, Maryville, on June 8. The Rev. Wendie Jekabsons was ordained to the priesthood at St. Columba’s, Bristol on June 20.

The five deacons, the Revs. William McGee, Felicity Peck, Janice Robbins, Anne LeCroy, and Edward Scott were ordained to the vocational diaconate on June 16 at St. John’s Cathedral.
