and Canons The Constitution and Canons Committee is about to conclude a three-year process of updating the diocesan canons and will present a reorganized and rewritten document for consideration at the February convention... Obituary The Rev. John Hamilton Bull, rector of St. James Episcopal Church, Knoxville, for nearly 30 years, died Dec. 9 at Northhaven Healthcare Center, Knoxville. He was 84. A native of Charleston, S.C., he was a chemical engineer for Dow Chemical Co. and later with Union Carbide at the K-25 Plant in Oak Ridge before enrolling in the School of Theology at the University of the South. He was ordained in 1950, following in the footsteps of his father, also an Episcopal priest. After being rector at a church in Old Hickory, the Rev. Mr. Bull came to Knoxville in 1954, where he served two years as associate rector at St. James. He became rector in 1956, and retired in 1983. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie Mae. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bull of Knoxville; children, Jennie Bull of New York; John Bull, Jr., of Knoxville; Susan Wyatt of California and Thanh Duong of Knoxville; step-children, Jan Ann Wheeler of Nashville, Margaret Jett of Knoxville, Laurie Sisk of Nashville and Lacy Dainwood of Smyrna, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Church of the Good Samaritan,
Knoxville. Clergy News The Rev. Suzanne Seavey has been called to be rector of Church of the Resurrection, Loudon. She comes to the diocese from the Diocese of Western North Carolina. She began her ministry at Resurrection on Oct. 13 The Rev. William McGee has been assigned deacon at Church of the Nativity, Ft. Oglethorpe. The Rev. Ann Markle has been called to be rector of St. Raphaels, Crossville. She comes to the diocese from Western New York. She began her ministry at St. Raphaels on Dec. 15 and her Celebration of New Ministry is scheduled for Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. CST. The Rev. Gayle Browne has been appointed by Bishop vonRosenberg to serve as Priest-in-Charge Under Special Circumstances at St. Lukes, Knoxville. The Rev. Patricia Templeton is serving as chaplain at Hospice of Chattanooga. Judy Aebisher is serving as Lutheran Lay Minister at St. Barnabas Worshipping Community in Jefferson City.
