The publication schedule for the East Tennessee Episcopalian is changing. We’ll continue publishing 6 issues each year, and we’ll still try to be flexible on the length of each issue, depending on the quantity of material. But we’ve discovered that our current schedule leaves us scrambling unnecessarily to cover events that occur regularly in the life of the church: The annual diocesan convention hits right at the current deadline to go to the printer, for example. Every third year, so does General Convention. So in order to offset the schedule by one month, the next issue will stretch over three months — September, October and November — and then the final issue of the year will be dated December/January. The revised deadlines for these two issues are noted below, and the deadlines for the 2005 publication year will run in the next issue. Please do send us information about events in the lives of your parish and parishioners, and let us know if you have an idea for a story. This is your newspaper, and it should speak to you and for you. — Sharon Rasmussen Editorial PolicyThe East Tennessee Episcopalian welcomes articles
and letters to the editor on topics of interest to the people of the Episcopal
Diocese of East Tennessee. Publication is subject to space constraints
and editor’s approval. Submissions may be edited and/or excerpted
and should include the writer’s name, e-mail address, mailing address,
telephone and parish. The parish telephone will be published with the
story as a source for information unless you advise otherwise.
Photographs: Whenever possible, photos should show people
doing something: Activity is generally more interesting than a group portrait.
For a photo to be considered, caption information must accompany it: who,
what, when, where and why. Anyone who can be recognized should be named.
Please also identify the photographer so credit may be given. Photos should
be sent as high-quality jpeg files attached to an e-mail message or as
glossy photographic prints. Photocopies or images in printed matter are
of insufficient quality.
Articles: Like a picture, a story should answer who,
what, when, where and why. The best stories are ones you, the reader,
are interested in reading. Please identify the author and e-mail the story
within the body of a message or attach it as a Microsoft Word file to
an e-mail message.
E-mail to editor@etdiocese.net is highly preferred. Or you may mail material
to arrive by the deadline to: Editor, East Tennessee Episcopalian, 814
Episcopal School Way, Knoxville, Tenn., 37932.
