Convention information

How to nominate an individual for election

This year, the convention will elect deputies who will attend the next General Convention of the Episcopal Church (July 8–17, 2009, in Anaheim, Calif.), as well as individuals to fill other diocesan posts.

A two-sided bulletin insert lists the posts to be filled and describes the duties of each. See also the more detailed information provided to all clergy and lay deputies; it includes the names and parishes of those currently serving.

A Nominations Form must be used to nominate an individual for an elected office. Nominations were accepted in the office of Canon Stephen Askew at the Diocesan House until Dec. 31, 2007. Nominations also may be made by vestry members, canonically resident clergy and convention delegates on the first day of the convention, Jan. 25, 2008. Please download the nominations form, complete it, make 300 copies and bring them to distribute at the convention.

How to propose a resolution

The process for proposing either a resolution or a resolution of courtesy or appreciation is described here. Forms are available for your use in proposing a resolution or a resolution of courtesy. Proposed resolutions were accepted in the office of Canon Stephen Askew at the Diocesan House until Dec. 31, 2007. Resolutions also may be proposed at the convention by vestry members, canonically resident clergy and convention delegates. Please use download and complete the appropriate form and bring 300 copies of the completed form to the convention for distribution.

Registration materials

All those who plan to attend the annual diocesan convention on Jan. 25-26, 2008, in Gatlinburg must be registered in some capacity; visitors may register by completing a Visitor Registration Form. Pre-convention area meetings

Pre-convention orientation meetings have been held in each area of the diocese. These meetings supplied information about decisions facing the convention, including the proposed diocesan budget, proposed resolutions, nominees for elected offices and more. If you missed your area meeting, please ask your clergy and/or parish delegates for information about the convention.
